A "townie", who scratches along the wonderful landscape of the Alps on his search for the real luck: an edelweiss. This should not take place - in the meaning of the forester ...
Directors comment

The motto of the Steinerei 2010 (German brickfilm festival) was announced very early, so first work on script started in august 2009. This time I had help by a co-writer: my colleague and author Frank Lauenroth.

After that I started the search for actors and props. In the first I built vehicles and eagles. In real there are two eagles, which differ in their wings.

Then all work stood still for several months, until in march 2010 the filming began.

The first filming was a "raw version" with landscape of the Alps glued to a board. But that doesn't look very proper.

So I did a second version with a blue background. In post-production the blue background was exchanged by the real landscape (blue-screen-effect). I realized, that the dark-blue trousers of the townie was not ideal, so he had to change his trousers to a grey one. This is the version of the film which was shown on the Steinerei.

There also is a third version made of a few scenes i filmed with a 3D-webcam (minoru 3D webcam). I found out that this webcam is not ideal for small distances as needed for brickfilming. So finally it is only a test. For watching the film you need typical red/cyan eyeglasses.

For the music I choosed the common German folk song "Bergvagabunden" (vagabonds of the hills), which has the word "edelweiss" in his second strophe.

The film take place in the Swiss part of the Alps, what can heard by the accent of the forsterer. The sentence "Ah - ein Stadtmensch!" ("Ah, a townie!") was taken from a very popular German tv commercial from the 1990th spoken by Peter "Cool Man" Steiner.

The film was made espacially for the Steinerei 2010 (German brickfilm festival) in Hildesheim. The motto in 2010 was "luck". The film not only won the third place for audience award (out of 17 films), but also became winner of "jury award".
